The Sweater

I am a writer who is having issues right now writing my novel. Rather than consult a trained professional, my self-cure involves knitting a sweater. WHY? Because I will only knit little things that I can finish, like scarves and felted purses. I am making myself knit a bigger project and making myself finish it no matter how dreadful it may be. WHY? Because I think I am intimidated by writing an entire novel. I am not going to take this crap from my sub-conscious anymore. I'm going to teach the beast who's boss. What do you think? Therapists everywhere are sure to implement this revolutionary treatment.

You're the only person I know who can beat her inner beeotch into submission with a pair of knitting needles.

You go girl.

And I certainly understand where you're coming from. I procrastinate in other ways, but the reasons behind it are the same.

I think it's Pact Time.

Darlin', I'm in business.

Have just been given a D200 for my belated birthday prezzie, and the battery is re-charging as I...

Battery is ready to go.

Oh Obie-Wann of the knitting needle. I didn't know you knit. I love the knitting vs. writing analogy.

Now maybe you can help me, I love to knit (when the mood strikes) but I always forget how to end it. That last row escapes me.

Now...hmmm...how that relates to my writing dilemmas...I'll ponder that too.

You need to cast off. It's really easy! You know, the other day I dropped a stitch on the new sweater. I googled something like "How to pick up a dropped stitch" and do you know, a video came up? And voila! I not only read the instructions, but saw the woman fix the problem. It was the B-O-M-B!

The sweater is coming along. It will take me probably until the end of April, when it is "due," if you know what I mean!

Wait a sec, I thought you DID consult an expert!

{kidding}

You'll only understand if you are who I think you are...

Suze,

Of course I'm who you think I am! But I'm not sure who I think I am... Now I'm totally confused.

And yes, I did consult you, THE BEST expert ever on the travails of the historical... However, I was referring to a MENTAL health expert in the original post.

Thanks a million for stopping in! Come back often!

Hi Stephanie!
Join the club! I bought some expensive angora wool, telling myself, I _will_ finish a sweater by myself (the last two that I made are unspeakable. The first was too thin and my mom did all the sewing. The second one looked like a knight's chain mail and had to be unravelled and remade into a vest for me). Needless to say I have 3/4 of the back done and... it's still sitting there. On the other hand I've been editing my novel a lot more often :-)
